These are the latest tips to help you protect your intimate hygiene in Summer

It is always worth paying attention to intimate hygiene, especially in summer! The warm and humid environment is conducive to the growth of bacteria and fungi, so the beach can even be a hotbed for vaginal infections. However, by following a few rules, we can prevent the development of diseases lurking in our intimate area.

In summer, the number of pathogens that threaten our intimate area can increase rapidly, as the warm and humid environment is ideal for their reproduction. Women should therefore place greater emphasis than usual on basic hygiene during heatwaves, in order to avoid the development of stubborn infections with unpleasant symptoms, but at least to reduce their chances.

Sometimes less is more

The main rule of intimate hygiene is that it should not be neglected or exaggerated. The latter mainly concerns the use of detergents and unnecessary vaginal rinsing (irrigation). This is because the vagina is self-cleansing, it does not need any drugs to maintain its health and maintain internal balance. It doesn't matter how we cleanse the external genitals: it's important to use a fragrance-free material! Don’t make the mistake of overdoing the cleansing of our genitals to avoid an increased risk of infection.

It doesn't matter what we wear

Choosing the right underwear is especially important in the summer, as panties made of very tight synthetic fibers prevent proper ventilation. In the heat, we sweat a lot more anyway, and these substances only increase sweating. And a sweaty, humid and warm environment can promote the growth of bacteria. Always wear underwear made of cotton and, if necessary, you can change it several times a day.

Let's move

Sitting in one place for a long time also doesn’t help to properly ventilate the intimate area, so it’s a good idea to get up and take a walk at times, especially when you’re doing sedentary work. If we are on a long journey, we can do a lot to prevent increased sweating by choosing the right clothes: start with a natural, cotton swinging outfit.

Frequent pad and swab replacement

In summer, we need to pay particular attention to choosing the right tampon or pad during menstruation: these should be as fragrance-free as possible, and their frequent replacement is extremely important. Of course, if we can, don’t plan to swim for this period, as we may be more susceptible to infections during menstruation.

Pay attention to hair removal

Most women remove their intimate body parts much more often in the summer, especially before bathing. However, it is advisable not to wax or shave the day before, but the day before, as these operations can damage sensitive skin, making it more prone to various infections.

Let's change our swimsuit

When preparing for the beach, it is always advisable to pack more swimwear, and not just in case of unexpected accidents. After bathing, it is always worthwhile to switch to dry, even if it seems uncomfortable at first. This is because sitting in a wet swimsuit is good for bacteria and pathogens.

Use slippers

On the beach, except in the water, wear slippers in all public places. While it may seem comfortable to walk barefoot, this can put you at risk for a fungal infection, especially in washrooms. Of course, there should also be care not to touch the toilet seat and, if possible, prepare with a damp cloth and hand sanitizer.
